An everyday item becomes a power woman's enhancement. Green aviators, a statement piece for the high necked domina, are crafted from steel wool scouring pads. Steel wool is found in every homestead in Kenya because it efficiently scrubs the commonly used Sufuria–– Kiswahili for 'aluminium cooking pot'–– to shining perfection. It is a mark of pride for every good Kenyan housewife to have her collection of sufurias glistening in silver brilliance. Thandiwe has many fond memories of dishwashing in her childhood, using steel wool to quickly scour the sufurias used to cook that day's family meal, then stacking them like a Russian babushka doll before dashing off to grab her camera for a photo session with her sisters.
