“in stillness, in solitude i count” is an ongoing series of small collage-based artworks that explore the solitary practice of individual meditation and prayer.

The artist’s meditation practice began in fall 2016 and has evolved and deepened overtime.

One of the gifts of meditation is being able to observe and acknowledge one’s thoughts without judgment or condemnation. The transformative power of meditation and prayer is in the repetition, the daily - day and night - action of steadying oneself and sifting and shifting thought.

The works are made from a reproduction of a kneeling woman (the artist) and original clippings extracted from historical and contemporary source materials.
