Based in San Antonio, Texas (USA), Sesse Elangwe (b. 1994) is a visual artist originally from Buea, Cameroon. His remarkable paintings are the result of deep reflection on his personal and collective personal and collective encounters, which reflect his cultural and sociopolitical environment. Drawing on the aesthetics of realism, pop art and surrealism, Elangwe uses portraiture to critically document some of the conditions experienced by black people worldwide. The topicality of his acrylic subjects is often in dialogue with the liveliness of the colours colors he uses.
